Dr. Capecchi is Distinguished Professor of Human Genetics and Biology at the University of Utah. He is best known for his work on the development of gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem cells. Capecchi was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology, with Oliver Smithies and Martin Evans, for his contributions to this field.
