Ian Hodder is an archaeologist and professor. Since 1993, he has been excavating the 9,000-year-old Neolithic site of Catalhoyuk in central Turkey, shedding light on the development of one of the world’s earliest societies, the social and economic organization of the settlement, and the transformation from hunting and gathering to agriculture and civilization.
He is the former Dunlevie Family Professor in the department of anthropology at Stanford University. He now teaches at Koç University in Istanbul.
