Dan Axelrod specializes in developing fluorescence microscopy techniques that are useful to cell biologists including total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, a popular technique for viewing single molecules at surfaces. Axelrod is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics and Biophysics at the University of Michigan.
