Dr. Consuelo Alvarez is a Professor of Biochemistry and Genetics at Longwood University, a small school in FarmVille, Virginia. Alvarez was born in Quito, Ecuador, where she found a passion for the outdoors and learning about nature. She received her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been at Longwood University for over 15 years, where she teaches numerous biology courses and is the recipient of the Maria Bristow Starke Faculty Excellence Award.
