Dr. Megan Sykes is the Friedlander Professor of Medicine, a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and a Professor of Surgical Sciences at Columbia University Medical Center, and the director of the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology. In 1982, Sykes completed her medical degree at University of Toronto and continued her medical training in Montreal and Toronto. In 1990, she joined the faculty of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she pioneered studies to induce mixed chimerism and tolerance after organ transplantation in humans. In 2010, she moved her lab to Columbia University where she established the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology and continues her research innovating techniques in the field of allo- and xenotransplantation.
