Mike Levine is a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Center for Integrative Genomics at the University of California at Berkeley. His current position completes a circle that began when he was an undergraduate student at UCBerkeley. Levine went on to receive his PhD from Yale University and he did postdoctoral training in Basel.
Levine’s lab studies how animal development is regulated by the temporal and spatial control of gene expression. To this end, his lab uses the Drosophila embryo and the sea squirt, Ciona intestinalis, as model organisms. Levine’s work has been recognized with many awards including membership in the National Academy of Sciences.
