Dr. Lakhotia is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Zoology at Banaras Hindu University. His lab uses Drosophila as a model organism to study non-coding RNA, stress genes, neurodegenerative diseases and the cellular mechanism of action of Ayurvedics. Dr. Lakhotia is also well known as a mentor of students and young faculty in India.
