Dr. Edison Fowlks is a Professor of Biology and the Director of Biotechnology Laboratory at Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia. Fowlks received his PhD from Ohio State University, and did his post-doc at Michigan State University and UC Berkeley where he studied ribosomal and viral RNA structure. He then started a lab at Bishop College before moving to Hampton University, where he uses bioinformatic and genomic tools to study unanswered questions in biology and medicine. At Hampton, Fowlks is the Director of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Education Program, and is heavily involved in creating the biology curriculum and teaching biology classes.
