Talk Overview
Tom Pollard argues that, in order to maintain and bolster federal support for science, US lawmakers need to be made aware of the contributions of research and its benefit to society. Even though scientists are ideal to advocate for science, they tend to shy away from advocacy for different reasons. Pollard challenges those reasons and presents many opportunities for everyday scientists to get involved, make a difference, and advocate for science.

Tom Pollard is the Sterling Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University. He received his BA from Pomona College and his MD from Harvard Medical School.
